Pregnancy - A witness to the remarkable mystery of the mother's body
Pregnancy is an unique and beautiful journey, and a witness to the remarkable mystery of the mother’s body. Here are 3 tips for a memorable maternity shoot, that may happen once or twice in your lifetime if you're lucky!

Plan Ahead
Tip #1: Schedule shoot during your third trimester, where your belly is visibly prominent
a) Timing: Selectively schedule your photoshoot during the later stages of pregnancy, around the start of third trimester when the belly is visibly prominent. This may means booking your photographer during your first - second trimester and having the actual shoot on the third trimester itself.
b) Location: For location, choose a location that holds significance to you, such as a beautiful outdoor setting or a cozy indoor space. Typically indoor shoot is the go-to as it is the most natural and comfortable, especially with the growing bump to walk around with.

Less is More
Tip #2: Embrace your natural beauty
One of the most important elements of a maternity photoshoot is showcasing the radiant glow of an expectant mother. Follow these tips to emphasise your natural beauty:
a) Makeup & Hair: Keep your makeup and hair simple, opting for a natural and effortless look. Avoid heavy makeup or intricate wears that may overshadow your natural glow. Simplicity is the key to timeless and elegant photographs. Flowing fabrics, form-fitting dresses, or even maternity gowns can beautifully accentuate your baby bump and flatter your figure.
Rule of thumb: Prepare one of each kind, for easy wardrobe change.
b) Lighting & Angles: Pay attention to the lighting during your photoshoot. Soft, natural light is usually the most flattering. Work closely with your photographer to explore various angles that make you feel comfortable that highlight your baby bump while accentuating your elegance, femininity & strength. Practice a few poses in front of your mirror prior the shoot, if that helps!
If you have time: Try this basic pose - one hand on top of belly & another below to support it, turn sideways & bend the leg that is facing the mirror/camera. Take a deep breath, pull down your shoulder & straighten your spine! Make sure you feel comfortable. It may take a couple of trials :)
#3
Emotionally Connect
Tip #3: Enjoy this opportunity of emotionally bonding with your spouse & growing baby
a) Involving Loved Ones: If possible, include your partner, children, or even pets in some of the shots. These images will not only capture the love and anticipation within your family but will also serve as cherished memories for years to come.
b) Candid Moments: Some of the most heartwarming photographs are often captured when you're engaged in natural interactions. Laugh, talk, and share special moments with your loved ones during the shoot. These candid moments will reflect the genuine emotions surrounding your growing family. In short, enjoy the process just as much as the outcome! Take it easy.
c) Personal Touches: Incorporate personal items that hold sentimental value, such as a baby blanket, ultrasound pictures or a sentimental heirloom. These thoughtful additions can create powerful visual narratives that reflect your hope.
A maternity photoshoot is an extraordinary way to celebrate the beauty and joy of pregnancy.
